Centre console and dash removal on a sprint.

PostPost by: soggster » Sat Apr 04, 2009 1:34 pm

Help :?

I'm removing the dash from my sprint, and I have a question if anyone would oblige.

1. Does the centre console need to come out? If so, how do you get it out?

(mine is held in by part of the roll cage!)

cheers

Andy.

Andy- do you mean the arm rest? if so, gear knob off, cigerette lighter out, headlight knob off (little plunger on the side) then pull back slightly and lift from the rear (diff end). not sure what complications you'll have with aroll bar tho.

Neil - I see from your pics there's a coulpe of spacers on your gearbox mount - why? I dont remember mine having any - is a Spyder mount different? enlightenment please.

Neil,

A terrific set of pictures. I thought I went overboard taking pictures when doing jobs on my car - but you make me look like a real amateur. I've now put the link in my favorites for future reference.

Paul,

The spacers on the Lotus support look like spec parts to me. It's true that the Spyder support is taller and eliminates the need for spacers.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah my rollbar has a support through the centre console, and it look like it'll have to come off to get the console out. Typical :?

I may do it one day, but I've lost all interest in it all of a sudden.

Neil

Photos and work on the Elan and Cortina - fascinating, thanks for sharing all that work!

What is your opinion of the driveshafts as opposed to rotoflex? I've heard mixed accounts?

When I got the car the joints were 10 years old done 3000 miles and when I removed them was able to snap one in half with my hands thats why I went down the Sue Miller route
