The Parcel Shelf

Parcel shelf.
Each time I change the rear damper I promise to do something about the rear shelf.
I have never managed to remove the cross piece at its leading edge, Has anyone else?
How do people support the shelf, the metal clips which one supported it are long gone,
I need a good solution, easy to implement, with a good appearance and easy to remove !!!!!

I've just made a new parcel shelf. Sue Miller sells the metal clips, 'though you have to remove the rear windscreen to fit them. Before I got round to doing the job properly I had the shelf supported on 2 strips of ply wedged under the steel brace that runs between the boot hinges. The upstand at the front of the shelf is attached by screws from the underside of the shelf.
