Colour Suggestions for Respray :)

PostPost by: M.J.S » Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:06 pm

I've always been a fan of yellow cars and love the LO7 Lotus Yellow my 130/5 is in, without the silver roof. I think the +2 is one of very few cars that can pull yellow off.

Stick with the original colour Peter.

Who's is doing the paintwork for you? Paul?

Are you going to take it back to the fibreglass? There is a chap in Cork who does soda-blasting

Cheers

Hi

If that is the 3rd one down; it is my favourite and then the Laurel Green.

They were both at Hethel for the 60th birthday.

The burnt sand was stunning.

It does! I'm surprised, as the only other one I've seen was Bernie's old scrapper...a little less than stunning!

Hi i was interested to see these posts today (after moth balling my own plus 2 restoration for many years!!!!) as the last few days i have spent grinding, glassing, sanding the body with a concerted effort to get it painted in the next couple of weeks /months. Natually my attention did wander occasionally on to the subject of what colour ? As we are all aware the cars had many colour changes as owners tastes changed. When i started my restoration ( wait for it) circa 1993 i had no doubt it was definitely going to be lagoon blue with silver roof. The only other colour black and gold, but as after searching hard and not finding an affordable JPS that was out, its either a jps or its not!. A few years later Regency red / silver became the definite colour scheme. Now a few more years later im not sure except metalflake roof is 100 per cent. yellow, black, red are now being considered. One things for sure it will be the original colour for some thing. Without even painted it yet i can see why owners changed the colour of their Elans and Europas over the years! : Tony Costin

To everyone who posted to this query....

THANK YOU :D

Plenty of food for thought in the pictures, and seeing the colours ON a +2 is very helpful indeed!

Hopefully the car will be painted over the next 3 or 4 weeks and I'll make sure to both let you know what colour I go for and post a picture or two!

Again, thank you,
Peter

I did not get to see this one when Bernie had it, went I went to Bernie's there was just a whole load of bits and the BRG +2. I did see another Burnt sand one in Cambridge at Howard's house (the guy who just sold the Tawny +2) but it was scrap. An early car but a 1968-9 so not early enough to save as it was mostly just body and few bits of interior trim that I bought.

I do like the under-stated colours on sports cars.

Carlos, any more photos of your car in red and black, it looks quite striking from the small glimpse seen in the photo.

Peter
I know I said Lagoon Blue but on reflection and after all these posts really think that you ought to keep it original.

Best Regards
Terry

Is the red a Lotus colour? It looks a lot brighter and smarter than the usual Carnival.

This is a March, 2009 respray in Glasurit Carnival Red single stage urethane, still an available mix in the US--more orange than Carlos' red. Gordon Sauer
