Revisiting fitting and hardware for window in door

PostPost by: Gordon Sauer » Sat Jul 11, 2009 12:11 am

On the inside of the window frame, interior side of glass, there is horizontal section that is chromed with holes that match holes in narrow horizontal section of door--just rivet this together? On the outside of glass there is vertical section on fiberglass door with holes that line up with similarly small holes on vertical piece of window frame. This vertical piece has the two long vertical pieces that go down into the door. It seems these small holes are riveted (or screwed as some have suggested) to make a sandwich starting on the ouside with the clip (to hold chrome outer strip), the vertical door lip, the rubber seal that rubs against the glass, and then the metal strip of the window frame? Is there no fuzzy strip--just this rubber strip that goes up against window to seal out water? And besides those small holes in that outer, vertical window frame piece, there are a bit larger holes about an inch forward from each small hole (the ones that line up with holes in the door) and what are these bigger holes for? Gee, if I'd thought it would be 20 years I'd have taken pictures and made notes. Thanks Gordon Sauer

Gordon, there's no rivets in the door assembly. All held together by self taper screws or threaded bolts.
