VIN Plate in Windshield

There's a little VIN plate that I seem to remember went somewhere between the dash and windshield (US model if that makes a difference).
Can anyone offer a more specific location / attachment?
Thanks
Keith

Keith,
On my unrestored 1970 S version, the edge of the plate nearest the car center line is 2 and 1/2 inches toward the outside of the vent outside edge and as close to the front (bottom) of the windscreen/dash intersection as possible (about 1/4 inch). I hope this makes sense. If not I can try to photograph it but I'm not sure I can get it because of reflections.

Thanks Ross - that sounds close enough for me (it basically matches my dim memory* from when we began this escapade).
Do you think it's just stuffed in there, glued, riveted, ... ?
Keith
* not to infer the memory is always dim; just about this and a few other things.

Here are some pics--first hole is 11.5 inches from edge of windscreen driver edge (with windshield out and white dots showing location of holes)--it's riveted to edge that rolls up just in front of flat surface that holds crashpad. Gordon Sauer

Gordon & Ross - Could not be more informative - thanks very much
Keith
Update 2 August - armed with the info above I went into the shop to get the plate on before doing the wndshield. Turns out the screw holes are still right there, just under the dash pad. All set. THanks all.
