The Third Hand - Clamp Stand.

Do you ever feel frustrated when carrying out repairs on your elan body parts?
I know I do, and just recently I built a little device I call The Third Hand.
Now I don't have to call out to the good wife to hold the elan doors
while trying to undo bolts and stubborn bobbins.
It is also incredibly versatile for holding other F/glass items
while doing repairs.
As you can see from the pictures below it is very simple, the clamp has
soft jaws made from a piece of red urethane left over from making
suspension bushes, and a small piece of soft pad cut from a door
stop I found in "BIG W" here in OZ.
OK, when you look at the pics below, you might be wondering why the
door skins have been separated... And the answer is, F/glass repairs
were required and the only way to do it properly was to split the inner
& outer shells, was that lots of fun? You bet!.. but that's another story.
I just thought I would share this handy little workshop tool with you.

Very useful looking gadjet.
Ah, somewhere I have some old chemistry stuff a retort clamp which could pressed into service for this sort of thing, provided that I make a nice strong vertical like yours.
My welding ability is not up to that task, but I would be OK with brazing using an arc welder.
