Should there be a drain tube attached to the hole in the door fitting on S1/2 cars ?

Good question for the forum.
May I ask where these were obtained? I too am in need of a pair for my S1. Thank you.

I acquired a pair from a friend of mine that had some spares although I'm sure one of the suppliers were selling them at one time but unfortunately I cant remember who

There is no drain tube - water from the small drainage area just dribbles down the foreword channel in the door.

That?s how it is in my ?63 S1.

There is no drain tube shown in the Lotus Parts Manual, & no sign that one was ever fitted to my 65 S2 doors.

Coming on this a bit late. Can I add that those interior fibreglass mouldings are hopeless for controlling water that cascades down through the front of the door aperture. I solved the problem by making up some strips of Aluminium and attaching them to the outer edge...but which still allows the door to open and shut.

These particular moulded parts of the S1/2 door furniture are very poorly made, so they were modified and made to fit, which entailed some new glass work. In the photos uploaded two new drain holes are visible, these were turned from small dia alloy bar and epoxied in place, underneath there is a short spigot where a short length of 1/4" plastic tube is pushed on, the tubes just dangle down into the door cavity through a couple of holes.

I got very tired of being soaked when driving the elan in the wet, but these little mods have solved the water drainage problem.

Also another problem is the gap between the body and the leading edge of the door...water runs down off the windscreen and dribbles down and previously just went inside the car, and onto ones leg...

With the hard top on, the S2 is not 100% water proof, but its pretty damn good, compared to what it was many years ago.

I got mine from Kelvedon in the UK. They will need lots of custom fitting (meaning saw and file to fit).

This is a lot late I realize, but I just got the door panels off of my S2. One of them has a hose connected to the hole shown in the original post. It's got a thick wall (like vacuum hose) and is just wedged into the hole. The end is cut off sort of flush with the top of the panel. The hose is 11" long and looks like it can be inserted into the forward most hole in the inner wall of the door when installing the panel.
