Pedal mounting help

PostPost by: ivan.wood » Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:17 pm

I removed the brake, clutch and accelerator pedals from my 1965 S2 last year to replace the bushings but I am having difficulty mounting the pedal shaft bush to the outside frame. I fitted it with the bolts and large square washers on the outside with the spacer washers between the frame and bush but the holes in the bush are larger than the mounting bolts and slide over the nut. Does anyone have any drawings or photographs of how it mounts as there is nothing in the manuals or on the net that I can find.

Thanks

I knew I had a photo somewhere when you posed your question but could I find it? Looking for something else it turned up. I believe this is original, Lotus used square washers to stop the bolt heads going through the holes in the bearing. Too late now of course but useful for the next time!!

Thanks for the help.

I finally figured it out but what a crap design. I assumed there must have been rubber bushings in the casting to make a good fit for the bolts but then shaft was tight. Just spent all afternoon trying to get the bush alighned with the shaft. I now have chronic back pain trying to loosen and tighten the nuts, still not 100% happy with it.

Thanks
