Hi I would be obliged if someone could explain exactly how the dzeus peg is fitted though the backboard.
I'm trying to work out how to make it stay in the spring clip.

Thank you John

I have installed a pair of diamond shaped Dzus on the bonnet of my S4se as a preventive measure, this is the type I found least invasive and most suitable for a street car. They are held in place by 2 small alloy pop rivets, so that is 3 round holes for each (I'd says about 4mm, 15mm and 4mm diameter). The Dzus screw is 1/4 turn, and the vertical location of the locking spring has to be relatively accurate for this to work (too low the strength is too strong, too high it does not lock), so I made an alloy bracket that could be bent for fine height adjustment :

checking on the net I found this video showing the installation process

ps: the holding screw slot angular position is set by the spring orientation, so if you care you may want to install the spring according the the way you want the slot to be resting (for convenience in my setup I installed them symetrically with respect of the axis of the car).

Thanks for all your help, but I think I need a spring clip to hold the peg in position.
When I bought the +2 it just had the riveted clip underneath the board support ,nothing else. I managed to find a s/hand peg. I need to try and find the rest of the fittings. Triumph gt6 I believe.

a photo would probably help reducing the chances of misunderstanding of what exactly is the issue...

This is the peg that goes on the board that slots into the bracket that is on the fibreglass. Is this what you are referring to ?

a dzus is a 1/4 turn fastener holding onto a spring... hence the misunderstanding.

I finally understand it now, Brian Buckland's book helped, think I was having a serious senior moment!

Thanks for all the replies. John

It's actually an adaption of a Tinnerman fastener. If you find an old Tinnerman catalog, you will find them.
I had an old airplane, a Stinson L-5, and they were used to hold down old fold down side windows in place..
They had many other uses, where you wanted a removable panel.
