Quick question. Does the Plus 2 have a tar based coating underneath?

I think so, but as mine had leaked so much oil the stuff was soft so I cleaned it off (on the driver?s side).

just paint it (black?). that tar stuff is definately a part of the past - here they forbid it prob 30 yrs ago. sandy PS - you most probably never had to remove this s.. and the removal of this TECTYL as they called it, is a sticky, painstaking job as some of U here must know

You probably don't need it here but in wheel arches the pitch is that having something a bit softer helps reduce stone impact stress cracking coming through.
There may be an argument about chipping noise reduction on the floor?
