Jon,
For the vacuum part of Chassis you coud use one of the products for inside PetrolTanks to kill any possible rust from humidity

Interesting… but the cross member seems solid enough, and there is always the option of electric lifters - although I’d rather keep it original. I’ll look into it. I think I’ll need some of that stuff for the tank anyway. Which looks pretty new, having been replaced at some point in the past (the receipt is on file).

Jon i used a kit of 3 products inside the fuel tank on my TVR 3000S 7 years ago with 100% good result. You'll need to find a way to swirl it about in the Chassis ( which is a bit too big to strap to a cement mixer lol). The kit was cleaner+ treatment + special resine. Money well spent and cheap. Cheaper than fitting an electric headlamp kit and all that f×××××g about.

For protecting the inside of the crossmember, in theory you could drill a hole in one end, then insert a wand with a 360 degree nozzle on it, and slowly draw it out whilst spraying a cavity-wax or such, then weld shut the hole. In theory at least.

I don't think i would want to weld shut the hole for fear of a big booooom.

The suction tube at the carburetor end has a one way valve and it is important to ensure that this little unit is in good working order, because it ensures that it sucks air out of the vacuum chamber & doesn't let any petrol fumes accumulate in there.

Hence ensure that the one-way valve works correctly to avoid any possibility of a big boom.

I think jon has a bare chassis bill.
The booom would be from the "Waxoil".
To drill a hole and weld a threaded boss before treatment would be better, dare i say like "Spyder" (enter spyder fan en scene).
Macbeth (whispered by the prompters).

Well today I fell into the pit, nearly. Stepped into a gap in the boards while not looking where I’m going. I have scraped a shin and the back of the leg. V painful. No more Elanning for a while!

But. Still scraping underseal from within the box section. Nearly done, then I will do the front turrets. Then a fresh coat of red zinc, and I’ll be ready to look at the reservoir inner.

One day the real fun will begin (reassembly of a clean grease free car, with restored components)!
