Mounting American Rear Plate

Hello All,

I was searching for how to mount an American license plate to the rear a Lotus Elan Plus 2 and all I can find is how to mount the UK plates.

My car has a couple of pins mounted to the body that require holes to be punched into the plate, right at points where it's not going to look very good. I'm wondering if there's a better way to mount this plate where I don't have to damage my plate. My guess is no, but I figured that I would ask here.

Thanks!

I used strong double side foam tape (3M) and some pieces of foam to stand it clear of the curve. easily and doesn't require drilling holes etc.

I bought my wife a private plate for her car and had to remove the original one attached by the dealer. It was stuck on with tape like M.Bell suggests and it was an absolute bitch to remove. It will not fall off believe me!

Suggest some of the of the heavy duty Velcro strips. The plate won’t fall off and you can still remove it if necessary.

Thank you for the suggestion! I like that idea. There's a UK plate mounted on my car and I can attached the tape to that. Such a simple idea, I wish I thought of it!

Hopefully soon, but first a trailer trip in for service. I want the car plated so it can be test driven as much as needed.
