Stripping Underfelt...

PostPost by: niallf » Thu May 13, 2004 12:06 pm

Hi All,

In the middle of stripping out the interior of a '71 Plus 2 S130 and some enthusiastic previous owner has stuck a lot of the Underfelt (and carpet) in with what I think is black bitumen/underseal. I've removed a lot of it using gentle heat and a lot of effort, but I'm wondering if I can use white spirit to soften the stubborn 'hairy' remains ?

Any thoughts, or suggestions ?
Thanks,

Niall

My S3 Coupe' had the same black stuff, so it must be factory. I used a wire wheel brush mounted on my air drill. It was slow going. I guess the wires were a medium stiffness as they did not seem to damage or loosen any of the fiberglass.
