juddering in reverse...

PostPost by: thor » Sun Sep 17, 2006 11:01 am

used the +2 to and from work yesterday, including food shopping etc., which was lovely. This problem seems less than I thought, unless I attempt to reverse too quickly, which gives me the impression it's just donut windup.... seems to be slightly worse with a warm engine and drivetrain though, strange...

I had a similar juddering in first, and worse in reverse.

When I has the engine out last winter I checked the run-out on the flywheel - it was excessive - more that 4 thou.

I turned the flywheel around and remounted it to get just inside 4 thou. The problem is much reduced and I can live with it.

My S4 used to judder in reverse. It turned out to be the diff torque rod bushes. Simple and easy to fix in place.
