spigot needle roller crankshaft

i was looking in the archives about problems with the needle roller bearing in 6 bolt crankshafts. i am surprised that anyone has a problem to remove them. here is a very simple method. 1.select a drill blank or rod that is a good sliding fit into the needle roller bearing. 2. remove the rod and fill the bearing completely flush with the end using a thick grease. 3. now place the rod at the entrance of the needle roller and using a hammer drive the rod into the bearing. this forces the grease into and around the back of the bearing cage and hydraulicaly pushes the bearing out. this takes maybe 10 mins so easy. it's not necessary to cut chisel or destroy the needle bearing at all. to assemble the new needle roller select a socket with the same outside dia as the new roller cage. just for info i have never had any problems with these bearings locking up in 35 years of driving lotus cars. i just replace the bearing when i renew the clutch each time
