Water temp transmitters

PostPost by: worzel » Wed Aug 27, 2008 6:07 pm

Hi

Could a kindly plus 2 owner let me know where the temp sender (I assume it's the electrically operated type) screws into the head and how long the sender is.

I've a spring modified to use an early mini type sender and matching guage but because the "reach" of the sender is short and is recessed out of the water flow I think this is causing the guage to under-read.

I was thinking of using the plus 2 type and fitting the innards of the plus 2 temp guage into the one I currently used (to keep all of the dials matching).

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi John, the temp sender is fitted into the head casting below the water offtake connection, look for the brass hexagon with an electrical connector attached. I cannot tell you how long it is though.

Hi Richard

Thanks for the info. From the pictures the sender looks remarkably similar to the one I'm using- but of course yours might have a longer "nose" putting more of into the water stream.
