Five speed gearbox-Help

PostPost by: john.p.clegg » Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:00 pm

Dear all
Are there any five speed gearbox minded people out there? The problem is this, dismantling the gearbox as per the manual I have got as far as Section F Paras, 7 and 8 and I cannot remove the input shaft because it is hitting the large cog on the front of the second motion shaft.(fig 20 part b) Am I missing something? Is there a paragraph missing that details how to remove the second motion shaft? Am I stupid?
I am now at a dead end until someone lets me know the secret!!!

Thanks in advance
John
P.S. have removed reverse idler shaft as para 7.

John

Have you removed the second motion layshaft and allowed the gear to drop to the bottom of the casing as per para 7 above fig20 ?

This is necessary for the first motion input shaft to clear the layshaft gears
