Hi All

Can anyone tell me if the clutch fitted to a lotus cortina is the same as the clutch fitted to an Elan +2 with a four speed box? I have seen this item on ebay and wondered if it would be suitable.

LOTUS CORTINA/LAYCOCK 8.5" DIAMETER CENTRE CLUTCH PLATE item no 250389066078.

Many thanks for your help

Andy

Standard clutch plate on the Elan 4 speed was 8 inch diameter but a 8.5 plate fits Ok in the pressure plate housing. I dont know what the Cortina used as standard and whether they used same pressure plate - maybe it was a 8.5 inch clutch plate with the heavier car but you should be able to use in your Elan OK

cheers
Rohan

Andy,

I have one of these clutch plates that I bought before deciding to go 5 speed.

You can have it for the eBay price and save the P&P cost. Meet me Thursday at the usual place and time if you're interested.

I always thought they were the same. Thought they all were 216 mm. ( 8,5" ) but I may be wrong. I have also seen the 7,5 " clutch used with the "incorrect" flywheel, so I guess everything goes....

The cross flow engine used a 7.5" clutch plate and the matching 6 bolt flywheel is not suitable for the Twink with 8" or 8.5" plates.
