Clutch Slave Cylinder take it out

I think you will find the retaining clip is of the snap ring type, requires the correct pliers.

What you need for snap rings are something like these..

Thanks everyone,

I finally take out the clips but it was the original one and paint in red as the block motor.
That why it was complicate to see it.
Now, I've got the problem to move out the slave cylinder, I can't imagine how is it possible to manage to take it out with the exhaust.

Any proposition ?

Unfortunatley you have to remove the exhaust headers (it's a Lotus, nothing is simple! :D ).

And make sure you bleed the new cylinder before you refit the exhaust - you will need to swivel the cylinder (C clip removed) so the bleed nipple is at the top (and it's almost impossible to do that and gain access to the nipple with the headers in place).

....it's also worthwhile wrapping the headers in heat resistant tape where they come close to the cylinder, wire it on with copper wire. This helps keep the clutch fluid temperature down.

Is it simple to take out the exhaust, I don't really want take out all the piece of the car and can't rebuild it after :lol:
Like many parts to remove ?

The main problem with the down pipe is the Y piece. I found on mine it is seized in place, and I could not separate it form the manifold pipes. However, by releasing the single outlet pipe (which eventually came off with a lot of effort), I was able to undo the brass nuts and release the manifold from the head so that it could be rotated clear of the clutch cylinder.

At that point I could drive the cylinder out with a hammer and suitable block of wood.

You probably won't get the exhaust completely out, but undoing the 8 long brass nuts on the exhaust side of the engine and sliding the exhaust manifold (headers in USA language) outwards will probably permit you to lower the exhaust pipe out of the way.

Ah, that's what THOSE ends are for :D . I wasn't sure if they were just sideways pins so that you could undo a circlip with the pliers alongside a shaft.

Having removable tips I made some tiny spoon-shaped pins to do my clutch clip.

It's finally done !!!!!!!! take out the exhaust help a lot.

Now, the last thing I need to know :

- the order of the distributor cap ???? ( I'm not sure the distributor cap cable going on the right spark plug).

Number 1 is the front spark plug, then 2,3,4 with 4 being the rear spark plug. The pistons are numbered the same way.

Hi everyone,

Such a long week-end, a new head distributor with everything inside, spark plug, cable, batteries and nothing very interesting.... :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops:
The motor turn, but not much, it lokks like we need more power, Any idea where from this electrical problem ?
