Clear wiring diagram for Lotus Elan S3 SE?

Does anyone know where I can get a clear copy of the wiring diagram for a '67 Lotus Elan S3? The one in my workshop manual is very hard to read. Also, is there any basic instructions on how to replace a wiring harness? From the seats back, ALL my wires have been fried!

Thank you!

Paul

Paul,

Best way to get a readable diagram is to have it enlarged on a photocopier.

The loom to the rear passes through the left side sill. I would suggest a new loom section it is only around ?40 (UK). It simply plugs into the main looms under the dash.

Providing that the loom has not been clipped in anywhere you could attach the new one to the old one and use it to pull the new loom through the sill

Where to buy new loom or section for Lotus Elan S3?

Thank you John for your response. Even when enlarging the wiring diagram some of the letters aren't clear but I could probably figure them out.

Here in the the US it is difficult to find parts like this. Could you supply a name or two (or website) where I could order parts from the UK? I also need some other trim pieces (plastic pieces from dash up along windshield pillars for example) and would love to be able to find them.

Thanks so much!

Paul

The fusing is so poor on the Elan that if any of the loom is burnt out the chances are quite high that other areas are damaged as well. A complete new loom is around GBP 150 so its hardly worth buying the proper crimp tools and wire to do the work yourself. The only drawback is the replacement looms are identical to the original in design with their inadequate fusing but this can be easily altered and you know all the connectors are new and going to last (use contact grease)

Try Christopher Neils, SJ Sportscars or Paul Matty's

I think all will ship overseas.

Agree with that but only ever buy stuff from her at Stoneleigh or Donington (the three mentioned previously sort of have online catalogues, SJ's is worth downloading but online ordering from all three is a joke!)

You can add Miles Wilkins to the list (only contactable by fax though as the phone sometimes rings out without being answered) no email either despite having a website at http://www.fibreglassservices.co.uk/ Miles has all the *original* Elan tooling remaining at Lotus and supplies via Lotus HQ other Lotus dealers Fax 01243 554545

The Mick Miller (RIP) catalogue is downloadable from the yahoo mailing list site

M100, Susan has elected not to go for online ordering at the moment (she runs things single handed) but she is only a phone call away.

My experience of the online catalogues of PM and SJ is that they are often way out of date and items are either not in stock or much more expensive than advertised. Not sure about CN these days but they used to stock very poor quality parts and were very reluctant to give refunds!

I find Susan helpful and knowledgeable and not just motivated by a desire to get your money.
