PostPost by: 10kph » Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:34 am

Hello,
Will someone post a photo of the positioning of the solenoid on a UK lefthand wing and how it is secured on a 73 plus 2 130
Thanks

This was my un-restored 1973 JPS Plus 2 . I can't see how it's secured, so I'm guessing from underneath.

That is going to be a stunner. It was so original with a gorgeous interior and just hadn't been touched under the bonnet. Incidentally, on the original sales ledger entry for that car, it has 'returned - bad paint'. so the thousands of microblisters on the car were all down to a Lotus factory re-paint!

The unit is held on by two small screws from underneath in two diagonally opposite corners.

Thanks for the photos and quick response. My solenoid has the two small holes which are untapped so must have taken rivits. The diagonal holes match two in the bodywork which are much larger, no doubt made when it was drilled out.

I think that you will find that the OE fasteners were "self-tapping screws" - very sophisticated!
