I have found that as they age the rear light lens covers tend to fade and go matt in appearance on the outside surface. No doubt due to wear and tear and ultra violet from the sun, etc. Has anyone tried a product that might help to rejuvenate them i.e. a mild abrasive polish or something else??

Never tried it, but I have heard tooth paste works.

Toothpast will work but it can be too abrasive. The plastic polish sold to refurbish plastic headlamp lenses works really well.

I think I once read a suggestion to run them through the dish washer as starting point. Get them nice and clean to start....

+1 on the dish washer, brings them up a treat. I do mine when my wife visits her sister.

I probably sound like I have a screw loose but when I was cleaning mine up I found that a good washing and some wax (the same kind you use on the paint) left them with a nice shine. Sounds like mine were in better condition than yours though.

Flat them with 1200's (lots of liquid dish soap in the water and grey scotch any seams that are still shinny) then clear coat them i do it with LOTS of plastic lens covers and they look like new.

Only thing is this doesn't remove cracks or damage but does add UV protection.

I've tried polishing lenses in the past and they look ok short term but the environment i work in requires some thing more permanent.

I've used an actual table mounted combo grinder/buffing wheel (only the buffing wheel though) and it restores luster to the lens like new!

I used it on mot failure foggy saab 95 front lenses... it actually worked !

But so does 1200 grit and normal polish..
