Dinamo and voltage regulator

PostPost by: lotusbzz » Wed May 29, 2019 8:08 pm

Hi Lotus people!
Anybody can give me some quick advice how to check the voltage regulator Lucas RB340 ?
For example checking the spade between B and E or D and F etc etc
The voltmeter reaches the 15 volt at high revs
I thinks that it gone because I?ve seen some smoke around this Lucas RB340
Thanks
Paolo

Hi Paulo,
The Workshop Manual has around 8 pages on how to test and adjust the RB340 control box .. way too much info to describe here.
If you don't have the manual perhaps some kind soul will scan the relevant pages for you and post it up here.

A google search for RB340 adjustment brings up lots of info, including YouTube links.

thanks all for the help.
I replace the fault one with a brand new BR340, not original but working perfectly.
just swap the plastic cover and the problem is fixed.
just for the news, the fault was the engine that doesnt stop running when the key is turned to 0Zero position.
I've to admit that some smoke was seen in that area :D and probably I've burned something inside (a diode I guess) that doesn't alow the current go through the WL-wire to the white ingnition wire at the connection of the warning light ... maybe
anyway now it works!
thanks and ciao da Bella Italia
