Mysterious switch

Hi
In the process of fitting a new dashboard I discovered that the bonnet pull bracket contains a switch, see pic. It doesn't look as though it has been added by a previous owner. Does anyone know what it's for?
Thanks John

Looks like the same little slider switch that is used in the glove box for security. Did it have wires? Usually two white on one contact to disable the ignition. Then two horn circuit wires.
May have been re located?

The hazard light switch seems to make sense. A previous owner had fitted an after market hazard light kit with an ugly switch and cut a piece out of the under dash trim to accommodate it. Maybe I'll put it back on the original switch.

I have the same bracket on my S4, but the PO used it for an engine cooling fan switch. It may have once been for hazard lights, though I haven't searched for the unused wires.

My 1968 S4 Coupe has the same bracket for the bonnet pull, but the switch was missing when I bought the car. There was evidence that something had been in the hole where your switch is, but I don’t know what.

Hi John,
68 S4. Hazard switch on mine. Can be found in the Owners Handbook, item 41 in the left hand drive dashboard description. Is mentioned as an optional extra further on in the book, but suspect that the switch could be there either way.
The hazard switch is also shown in the wiring diagram as the same type of switch as the alarm switch in the glovebox.
Cheers,
Colin.
