Engine is dry on both my cars but the +2 wants a Diff input seal doing and my Sprint keeps leaking from the Speedo drive in the gearbox :(

I know what you mean though, seems to be a constant fix one leak and another starts...... I guess it's the Lotus Anti corrosion system in full effect.

My TC is also 'oil' dry, but I have the same seepage on the transmission at the speedo cable. next try for that is a spray bandage !. oh, and I'm replacing a couple of diff seals right now.

For the leak from speedo drive, is the Breather on the Gearbox blocked :?:
My Elan also had a leak and i discovered it was from the Mechanical Fuel pump. The flange on the Pump was bowed, so i had to file and rub it down flat. Oil had been leaking and running all the way down to the bottom of the Bellhousing. I thought at first it was the Lip Seal on the Crankshaft.

Thats a good call. I have "Fixed" the drive oil seal three times now and the leak seems to always come back, i thought it was because the drive assembly was so awkward to fit in situ but that would make sense if the breather was blocked. I will have a look Thanks.

Since my complete rebuild of the S1 not a drop of oil on the garage floor. Of course, now that I said that something will start leaking......

On the other hand, the 72 Europa I'm restoring leaks engine and trans oil sitting on the dolly. Not for much longer!

I seem to remember fitting a paper gasket within the angle drive, which I don't see?
Maybe it goes between the drive and the brass fitting?

...........the last comment is more like the responces i was expecting! tbh i was expecting better from my alfa assistant! i mounted the impeller according to the posts i read here: so i maxxed the clearance between the impeller and the aluminum o-ring ring and now my engine would run for a week, idling along at 70 degree C! -- just for you folks who are close to that chore sandy 36 4982

So Sandy, are you talking about a water leak?
I think most of us are comparing oil leaks

oh yes oil leaks!! to be a bit naturalistic: we dont mind dog pee, we do mind dog manure however - i rebuilt the timing case etc.. incl. all new parts and NO leaks ----- its only my alfa buddy who claimed this and that, pure BS sandy
