Coating on cam followers

PostPost by: david.g.chapman » Wed Dec 05, 2018 7:21 pm

I have just bought some cam followers from Burton Power, and they have a grey coating on the top surface. I have emailed them about it, but haven't got a reply yet.
Before I phone them tomorrow, does anyone know what this coating is for?

it is probably a phosphate coating to help the followers and cam bed in on initial running. If they are steel follower then this is a good idea.
