Oil gauge faulty? / hardly any oil coming

i exchanged the hose: no difference! there's hardly any oil coming from the engine! i CAN remove the pump, if i have to. the chambers in the head where the oil runs down are empty, the followers / cam lobes are full of oil!! so some channel is closed?? this isn't my area of big prowess! sandy
