early cylinder head

PostPost by: seniorchristo » Sat Apr 20, 2019 4:58 pm

I am rebuilding an early S1 (sand cast?) cylinder head which has an engraving on front. Any chance this could be from Miles Wilkins? Also the inlet ears are welded which I am told was told was a mod to strengthen them. Anybody familiar with this?
Thanks
Chris :)

My guess is that the 'miles' with the zero in front of it is just that, zero miles and not Miles Wilkins.

As for the welding, yes I have seen this before. I've seen it both as a repair and for strengthening, but it's usually the result of breaking the ears off the intake (after the fact).
