Valve Shim interchange

I am adjusting the valve on a freshly rebuilt engine. After break in and run of around 1,000 miles I torqued the head bolts and checked the valves. Bean recommends .009" for the exhaust and .008" for the intake on a .420 cam.
#4 intake was at .016" so I decided to adjust the valves. The top hat shim is what I found.

I believe the spring retainers and keepers are typical ... Is there any reason I couldn't use a standard shim to replace this one?

Greg,

I use the top hat and disc shims interchangeably. Why not?

Yes. Whether you can or can't depends on what retainer design you have

I will check it out tomorrow to see if the puck shim will work.
