Hi all, just about to start the new motor in the Elan +2 . Is 130 big valve fully rebuilt top to bottom. Have had it cranking over without plugs in, have good spark and got good oil pressure. Ready to fire it up. Car is on Dellorto carbs and Lumenition ignition module on 89 dissy. What do we want advance at idle to start with? We have set it 9deg static which we were hoping would run the car? Someone said the dissy tops out at around 2500rpm and it should be around 25deg. I'm more interested in an idle setting for now say 1000rpm, to set up the carbs a bit as they have been overhauled. Can move on to the other timing settings later and fine tune the carbs. Timing light we have shows rpm and advance so no problem there. Marked the TDC acurately while the motor was in bits.
Cheers, Rob

Just had my plus 2 on a rolling road this morning and tick over timing is between 8-10 degrees according to Tom Airey who set it all up.

Hope this helps

Steve

I think book setting is 12 but a starting at 9 is probably sensible for start up.
