Not really any of your business but suffice to say it was a commission sale and the difference was still several thousand.

there's always a balance between private and public matters, sale price being one of them....
however I too am always curious as to what actual sales prices are as compared to asking prices. I always try to keep track of the market values and trends.
having said that, I guess there's never harm in asking so long as the person can respect your privacy not to respond.
Congrats on your sale!

Well it is relevant because the trade buyer who has posted here may offer less but resell for less.

Hi All,
Thank you for your responses

We are a genuine well known and respected family business in Lancashire specialising in classic & sports cars (mainly Lotus,Ford,Mini,Mg) and we are open and honest dealers and also collectors of classic Lotus cars

We have bought and sold to many Elan enthusiasts and collectors over the years and have dealt & collected Lotus cars for over 50 years and have a fantastic reputation for being honest, reliable fair hard working people offering very fair prices and selling our cars at realistic prices hence why we do so well!!!

A car like a house or land is only worth what someone is willing to pay on the day and in accordance with current market conditions

We have to buy at a fair price to sell at a fair price to generate a profit that is a business as I am sure you will agree!!!

Sadly people don't appreciate the effort, time & cost involved in finding, collecting these cars, advertising and repairs etc

I would like to confirm the truth about steve's (ELANFAN1) very unfair comments

We were offered a sprint by this individual which was originally a coupe restored with a convertible body shell, this car was restored by a well known Lotus Specialist and Steve the owner was not happy with the restoration and was taking legal action against this company!! - This particular car has been for sale for a long long long time (2+ years) at several different Lotus ''specialists'' who could not give the car away due to the car having a ''PAST HISTORY'' and still remains for sale today!!

In (elanfan1) own words this car had ISSUES and was a ongoing restoration project wanting work

We personally like most enthusiasts & collectors prefer a car as it left the factory for example original colour, body type etc etc and explained that due to the condition and history of the car and that it had been altered in many ways would affect the resale value and it was not really of interest but made a fair offer for the car considering the history and due to the fact it wanted finishing work to complete the car to a good standard (We were circa £4,000 apart so not £10,000 apart)

Not 1 Lotus specialists made a sensible offer to buy this car from this individual they only wanted to sale or return the car

In our opinion this individual is a little upset that we did not want his car that he cannot sell the vehicle to this day and really is very very sad in our opinion that a gentleman of this age has to report or bad mouth us on a forum for enthusiasts like this and we would sooner he contact us by phone to discuss his feelings

We are not ''lowballers'' thiefs or timewasters so we have replied to confirm the truth as there are always 2 sides to every story

We have sold in excess of 45 classic Lotus cars since January this year in varying conditions so we must be doing something right and make no apologies for being Dealers

Many Thanks

David & James Bradley

I think Jeff's comment is pertinent. Irrespective of how you conduct your business, you do appear to have disregarded the forum rules, repeatedly. Anyone who wishes to sell to a dealer can find one easily, so we really do not need adverts to remind us who you are.

Agreed JonB, this is an enthusiasts forum. Other Lotus forums I use I believe charge advertisers to promote themselves, their products and services. Maybe Jeff might want to peruse this if it helps him with the forum costs?

Also, imho, If someone posts something on a forum, then there should be a equal right to reply, as we have seen here. This is also sometimes not the case on other forums I use.

Cheers

That's all I needed to see...but I read on anyway. :D

I think I see both 'sides' here, the rules are clear, so abide by them.

Some appear to have dealt with this 'dealer' and are unsatisfied with the result and this sometimes happens - the dealer has responded and...

Which is all irrelevant really as jeff pointed out "[b]This is a commercial post to solicit business. The poster has been warned that this is not allowed on the forums. [/]
