Lotus Elan

Steel Wheels

PostPost by: Ross Robbins » Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:45 pm

I have two wobbly wheels that need replacing as they cannot be straightened. I am hoping to find two nice standard 4.5 X 13 wheels that are immediately usable, but if they are true and can be refinished that is OK too. I would hope to find them in the US as I am in Colorado but I also know these are scarce on the ground and beggars can't be choosers  You can email me directly at lotusross at comcast dot net if you have any.

Cheers,

Ross

OOPS!  I guess I was not specific enough by using the term "standard." My bad. What I need to find are two bolt on wheels with the four by 3-3/4" spacing, not the center lock with five pin drive holes. Mea Culpa. Doh!

Is that enough self flagellation???

Ross,
Please forgive yourself. Happens to all of us. No sense remembering your mistakes, either. We have spouses for that purpose.....

Hi Ross, I can't help w/ wheels, since my SS pretty much sat for months because the lug nut surfaces were damaged and a wheel wouldn't stay tight. I finally acquired a couple of Europa wheels that solved my immediate issue.

But, I think you need wheels w/ 3-3/4" bolt circle, not 4". A friend who was racing his Elan in SCCA GT2 and was forced to change to a live axle (GT rules) had 4" PCD wheels.

26R wheels have their pins on 4" PCD, but those are not bolt on fitting.

I sold my 4 to a guy, but he only needs 2, if you get really stuck I can give you his details.

Roger..I have edited to correct the bolt circle error. Thank you.
Mazzini: I am still hopeful of some wheels on this side of the pond, but if I cannot find any I may contact you for his info. Thank you.

Bueller, Bueller, anyone...wheels?
