Still searching.
Chatted to the chap that was trying to sell the basket case S4 on ebay at £15000
Engine / box /diff out of car, Heater box missing
Body sat on new but old spyder chassis (never been bolted down) Running gear refurbed many many many years ago, so needs doing again. (Stromberg head)
Am I being tight or is that car over priced for what it is? Help/advice greatly appreciated..

It’s the nature of Elans to be expensive , having just added up how much I spent on mine £14,000 to get from a similar state to something that looks good and drives good you can see why good examples fetch over 30k and that’s not counting the labour or the time to do it , 26 years in my case but I know I’m a bit slow

Thanks steve
Not sure i understand you... They cost an absolute fortune to do properly and thats just parts.(We all do the labour because we love it, do we not?)
I have found a car that looks really nice in the pictures and seems to be fantastic value. Almost the same car essentially, Its being advertised in the early 20's (very early) And is usable, so the delta between the two is not that much.... Hence my question re price of a car need a refurb/rebuild

Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay.
I would value completeness and originality.
So pile of bits could , if unlikely, be worth more than a running car.
But that is based on a complete strip down rebuild, if you prefer one job at a time then the runner is a better bet.
