Does anyone on the forum have one?
I wish to replace the jets but cannot locate a tool. I will willingly pay a deposit, postage etc etc for the loan of one of these units. I am situated in Cheshire.
cheers

The jets are pressed in to the body. Burlen www.burlen.co.uk can replace the jets for you. They have just rebuilt a pair of Strombergs for me and did a lovely job.

I am now struggling with air fuel mixtures with Zenith Stromberg CD carbs.
I was told that if I place the metering needle shoulder flush with the air piston face, as is recommended, and the mixture is lean, then the jet was installed improperly and will need to be lowered. This is for fixed needle carbs like mine. If you have adjustable needle cars then jet placement "may" be less critical. I would go to a pro.
I assume that jet placement is critical. Send it to a re-builder. Contact Jeff Palya.

Matthew,
That particular eBay tool is for adjusting the needles in the later carbs. Early carbs had adjustable jets and there's a different special tool for adjusting them.

Theer were different types fitted to USA and European Elans. Then there is 40 years of DPO.
There are 2 types of adjust Stromberg. One where the needle is adjusted and the other where the jet is. If you have a non-adjustable type you can convert it to adjustable by swapping some parts over.
There is an old Haynes or similar type manual for these carbs that pops up on fleabay now and then.
