Fuel Injection

Mark

So many questions,so little time,swirlpot?...what type of fittings have your injectors into the fuelrail? (mine are barbed push-on)....is that two sets of four post coils?...the gap on your VR sensor looks BIG?......did you check if your pump has an internal filter?,if not you'll definately need the in-line one,the smallest bit of debris will kill it (don't ask me how I know-but it involved a tin-opener)

Looks good

Hi John,

Yes no swirl pot, was told by speed shop that has helped with questions said there is not a need. He explained by saying it would be needed if we had a larger motor with more ponies. The fuel rail and throttle bodies both have the flange with an o-ring, I think you are calling that barbed. The coil packs have two posts each for wasted spark output. I added a second driver in the Mega for a second output on the ignition. What a huge amount of reading and learning on this stuff.
You are correct the gap on the vr is way wide yet and needs to be set at .050. I think I will need to bend the bracket to get right. I also need to remove the trigger tooth yet. My thought on that is with the crank at tdc on the crompression stroke to remove the tooth next to the vr sensor. Does that sound right to you? or would you recommend a different way?
Would you still be willing to share your baseline program for starting point?

Getting very close to starting her up, I hope.

Mark,
I have Omex ignition on my +2 and with their ecu the missing tooth has to be set a 90 deg BTDC. The brain has to have time to think! It's not very critical as you can adjust it to the exact figure in the mapping.
Cheers

You can have the missing tooth wherever you like - you just have to tell the ECU where it is in relation to TDC. For the Twink, the most convenient position is as per the picture.

Out of context I know but is your alternator a lot lower than mine or is it an optical illusion?

Hi all,

I got an emerald 3d system in the end.Its the 1620 kit,so called because thats the price.I tried to take pics of the box contents to show what you get but im not a PC guru, sorry. But its alot of kit.As a point of surport the company can not be any more helpfull if they tried.E mails are quickly responded too,and VERY helpfull on the phone.Im back in uk over easter so will try to fit as much as i can in that time and hopefully work out how to put on the pics.I think i only need an ignition coil, which i think my 1600cc zetec can provide, and a triggering device.Prob simmilar to the QED in the previous pics.

Ill keep the site up dated with the pros and cons when i can,but the intent is to do the conversion, get it set up then post the results to the board.Im not expecting masive amounts of BHP from the standard engine, but im more interested in the Torque and fuel consumption.

Paul

Hi Bigvalvehead........ Q.E.D. supplied fuel injection manuf. by D.T.A. for Strombergs, but I do not know if they still do. They have stopped rebuilding complete engines that I know.
I have a catalogue of theirs that states the complete kit, waisted spark, toothed flywheel, air /water sensors, pump, regulator, collector pot etc. etc. for ?2275.00. Might be worth asking if they still do as its a complete kit, or so it looks. I was very tempted with this setup, but its on the back burner, I do have a `orgasm` over this installation when looking at the catalogue, we all must have dreams!!

Regards John.
The lines fall unto me in pleasant places, yea I have a goodly heritage.

John,

I've jut scraped the paint to find a FoMoCo logo and the part number 2735E-10039D. So it is quite an old Ford part - I wonder for which vehicle it was designed.
