Stromberg Carbs

PostPost by: whaig » Wed Dec 22, 2021 10:18 am

Hi,

Hope someone can help with the numbering on the stromberg carbs for my S4 elan.

Trying to understand what numbering should be on the carbs.

My s4 has T233 stamped on one carb, this is stamped on carb when you remove the air filter.

Should both carbs be T233, I have seen an example AT233 on one and T233 on the other. Are the sided?

If someone can assist or point me in the direction of information would be grateful

Carburettor overhaul 009.jpg and
The specification number is stamped on the bottom edge of the manifold mounting flange, not visible with the carbs installed on the engine. I don't know what the T number on the intake flange signifies but I have a different number on each carb and they are the originals.

These are the numbers on mine.....

Hi

The number that I refer to is stamped on carb chassis, it is only visible when you remove the air box

The number on T233 it is top right

Yes that's where mine is stamped .. my description was misleading. As I said my carbs are originals and the T numbers are not the same so no idea what they may signify, it's the other number which identifies the carb type and is what you need if you are ordering spare parts.

The second page of this thread, viewtopic.php?f=40&t=41122&start=15, includes a picture of the Burlens/Zenith chart indicating spec numbers for the Elan range.

EDIT: went back and looked at pictures from my rebuilds, my 3296 set had the same flange numbers as oldelanman; my 3322 set had AT233 on the rear carb flange and 897T on the front.

The numbers would not be the same because thevcarbs are front and rear
