Fuel Gauge/handbrake Light

Hello All!
My petrol gauge never shows more than half full when the tank is entirely full (makes long journeys to airshows a bit of a lottery!) and my handbrake light seems to suit itself as to whether or not it works (this month it says "No!"). As for the oil gauge...don't even get me started.....
Any pearls of wisdom?
Many thanks!

Fix the oil gauge, (quickly), read the discussion on "Faulty Petrol Sensor Level", and remove the handbrake bulb, just make sure your handbrake is off when driving?

I don't know about +2s but on my Elan the pin in the switch was really gunked up. If yours is the same clean it with some solvent (beware of plastic) and re-lube it.

If it always has shown only half, maybe it's badly out of adjustment, ie, the float arm is bent.

Just might be a poor earth from the instruments. They all earth to the bolt that holds the body to the chassis, on the right hand side of the transmission tunnel just behind the dash. I had instruments that pleased themselves when they worked and what they said. Fixing the earth fixed the problems. One added symptom on my S130 +2 was that when the headlights were switched on aqll the readings changed and when switched off they changed back again.

Just a thought.
