I have a 72 Elan Sprint that I purchased in 74 from the original owner.

The knock off wheels (with octagonal knock offs) did not have chrome trim rings when I purchased the car and I am curious as to wether it would originally have come with trim rings.

Tony,

My '72 Sprint which I owned in '75 (obviously original) was in Gold Leaf colours with black wheels and chrome trim rings.

My Sprint has the chrome trim rings and most Sprints I have seen have also had them, I read somewhere that the trim rings were part of the "package" when the Sprint was announced.

Thanks for the information.

Now, are they available from any Lotus Suppliers?

Thank you,

Tony

I bought new 13" trim rings from an auto supply house. They're "identical" to "factory" originals. I've seen outrageous prices for "original" rings on ebay, but really, I can't believe Lotus ever manufactured their own. Try to get the style that slip fits onto the wheel instead of grabbing it with prongs that scratch into the paint. Mine were inexpensive and they look great. I think the majority of steel wheeled Elans, +2's, and Europas had chrome trim rings when sold new.

I seem to remember they were Ford items?
