Wheel nut

PostPost by: Robbie693 » Wed Aug 08, 2007 2:46 pm

Quick question:

Can anyone tell me what size the hex type wheel nut is (also called Federal type I gather)? I want to see if I can get a socket to fit...

Robbie, I think the wheelnuts are octagonal, so getting a socket is going to be a challenge.

best regards, iain

Duh!

Of course yes - thanks Iain. Don't know what I was thinking there. You're right, it may be a problem getting an octagonal socket.

Thanks for the measurements Matthew.

Please put me out of my misery - aren't the hex nuts hexagonal?

The federal type wheel nuts are most definately octagonal. I've counted the sides on mine and there are 8 on each nut.
