Which brake fluid?

I have rebuilt calipers and a new master cylinder, so there is no need to stick to the original fluid type - actually I am not sure what it was or if I could get it!!

What is the best current fluid and what are the compromises if there is a choice?

I use Castrol SRF, expensive but good.
