Rear brake centralising strips

Hi all, do you need the rear brake centralising strips as I don't have any on my car??? I presume they are used to get the pads coming into contact with the disk squarely???

You do need them, and centralising strip is a misleading name.
The handbrake pads and clamping levers pivot independently so the coil spring only retracts the levers. The slight springiness of the centralising strips retracts the pads, without the centralising strips the pads will always be in contact with the discs.

Hi,

If we're talking about the same thing.....the curved metal strip 'sprung steel' used to hold teh handbrake pads pack.....

Then Sue Miller definitely had them (before her breakin).

Got them from her after the guy who was supposed to be renovating one of my rear callipers lost them.... :x

Classicar Automotive have just told me they no longer stock pad shims for the the +2. They seem to be winding back a bit.
