I presume you have removed the rear strut / hub from the car. The top of the strut will have a cap that holds the shock inside the strut. This needs to be unscrewed to remove.

The top cap is screwed into the top of the strut and comes normally in one of three forms

1. A plain circular cap - grip with multi grips or pipe wrench to turn
2. A circular cap with a couple of notches in it - use C spanner
3. A hex protrusion in the top of cap - use suitable spanner (wrench)

Any of the three may have been locked by punching in the side of the strut near the top in a couple of locations. this may need drilling out to free up the cap for removal.

cheers

Normally no one attempts this.
The usual way to replace dampers is to unscrew the retainer in the top of the existing damper tube & then to fit a new damper insert into that tube.
If you do a search on here you willf find that the subject is well covered.
Removing the steel damper from th alloy hub casing will be extremely difficult, probably resulting in destroying one of or both of the components.

Good luck
