S1 Hand brake lever

Can anyone confirm the correct placement of the S1 hand brake lever. As shown in this picture it is located between the clutch and brake pedal. Is that the correct placement

If anyone needs one, I have new replacement white buttons for these. Not to difficult to replace.

Can someone tell me (picture if possible) what handbrake lever/cable looks like on the firewall side. Does the lever mount to the firewall or just stick through?

At end of the handbrake ratchet mechanism is and alloy part that bolts other handbrake ratchet part which centres the handbrake cable sticks through the firewall with grommet

Yes there's nothing really in terms of fixing on firewall.
The cable sits in the end of the handle and that completes the outer sleeve 'circuit' when you let the handle lock.
It's all a bit insubstantial to look at but because it's only axial force on the wire which then transfers to the sleeve nothing more is needed.
