AP 4 pot callipers ( Cast Iron )

PostPost by: greg40green » Mon Oct 01, 2018 9:36 pm

I have a pair AP 4 pot callipers I believe these were originally fitted to Austin Princess plus other models and were a favourite for fitting to early Ford Escort's to improve braking as they bolted straight on.
Has anyone fitted these to a 2 seater Elan ?

If you find they are not suitable for the lotus, I would be interested in them for my MK1 escort.
Thanks

Hi,
My guess is that if they Escort then they will not fit the Elan as the mounting spacing is different for Ford.

I looked at them and from what I recall it was a popular mod with the Triumph guys. I'm a bit hazy on detail now but I think they fitted on the standard Herald/Spitfire/Elan mounts but were too small for GT6 and presumably +2 mounts.

I looked through my links from the time and re-discovered this one

http://www.cjw-consulting.co.uk/4pots/4pots.htm

which isn't directly applicable to your question but does go into some detail about the calipers, history and options for changing the system.
