+2 Rear struts - hubs

PostPost by: 4545colin » Tue Mar 19, 2024 3:30 pm

I am currently rebuilding a +2 and have the chassis and rear wishbones but no struts, Can I use struts - hubs from a S4 that I have spare or are they different?

Whether the steel tubes in the ally hub bearing carrier are identical i can’t say but the ally carriers are the same if issue 18 I believe. Again don’t know if the hubs and stub axles are exactly the same but those parts are easier to find than the carriers I think

A quick check of the parts manuals show that they have the same part numbers as the +2. There's a lot of overlap between the two and the parts lists in the WIKI is a good place to start.

Rear hubs and road springs are Plus 2 specific.
See parts book in Wiki. Part numbers starting 050 are Plus 2 only.

I'll agree with the springs and hub part, but the Hub/Damper Assy, etc. changed to the 050 series parts commencing with chassis #7762. There are numerous 050 parts used in the later elans and 026 and 036 parts used in the +2. Remember who built these.
