Elan Wheels Help!

PostPost by: mikevernon » Mon Apr 26, 2004 1:41 pm

HELP!!! My 1969 Elan S4 SE has no wheels.

I removed the 7" k/o Minilites some years ago and fitted standard wheelarches to the body, and the car has been on blocks ever since. Now I need to move it (preferably to a new owner) so I need some wheels. Steel or alloy but standard width and k/o fitting. Does anybody have any?

OR does anybody have any suggestions about converting to some other hubs to fit bolt-on alloys??

Wheels and knock offs, both used and in "new" condition appear on ebay frequently, I think four used knockoffs are listed now. The wheels you may have to buy one or two at a time.

The usual suppliers do the regular 4.5" steel knock-offs about ?100 a wheel.

Steve
Who are the "usual suppliers"?
I did find some today at ?125 each + VAT, but ?587.50 for 4 wheels is too much for me.

Hello,

Not sure how up to date the Spydersport website is but give Andy a call as the following are currently advertised and even if they are not available he may have something else:

+2 steel wheels, sand blasted and primed. Very good drive peg holes ?25.00 each
+2 steel wheels chrome rims, very good drive peg holes. 4 very good chrome 1 reasonable. ?150.00 the set

For all of the above. Please contact Andrew on 0794 111 2952

I would imagine that he would also have spinners to match. You will just need some part worn tyres from your local tyre fitter which should not be too expensive.

Regards,

Colin

I have just ordered a set of minilites from Tony Thompson ?90+VAT each. Last time I was at Paul Matty they had both steel and alloy wheels at around ?100+VAT each.

There was a set of spinners of ebay, a bit bashed but looked like they would hold the wheels on ;) New they are about ?25+VAT from PM.
