Setting Up Suspension

PostPost by: tdafforn » Mon Aug 09, 2004 9:04 am

Hi all,
Just getting my mind 'round the new adjustable Dampers I have on my car (Spax on front and propriety top adjustables from tony thompson on back..)
what I am not sure of is a good way to set them up.
Is it just a case of tweeking them until I can go round corners fast while not rattling my fillings on all the pot holes?
Is there a good starting point for the Spax?
I guess no one has the same rear shocks as I do so I guess its a case of playing with the settings..
What are the signs of too soft (or too hard?)
I have also just replaced the circa 1975 tyres on the rear of the car with new standard sized Goodyears, what pressures should I be looking at?
Any help would be great as I am looking at rather too many variables at the mo..
On the good side how ever the cars brakes are astounding now I've fitted new discs and pads all 'round. So much so that they are taking a bit of getting used to (I have been experiencing an few too many nose against the windscreen moments) compared to the ones on my Pug 106 which feels as though I have bicycle brake blocks on the front
As always, any help much appreciated
Cheers
Tim
