Stuart,

I meant to mention that C&E will charge VAT + duty and the shipper will charge for having to collect the money on behalf of C&E.
But it will still be a good deal with the current exchange rate.

I'm sure a quantity of say 50 will sell without a problem, and maybe a better deal with Sarto can be negotiated.

I've asked Sarto to send me one for evaluation.
This will also reveal what duty Customs & Excise might levy, so I will then have some accurate figures for those who are interested.

I have several pictures of the tool, and will email same to anyone who is interested.

Send me a PM if you want either the tool or the pictures.

Regards,
Stuart.

I gather the Swiss device will look something like (although this is their Aston Martin version:

In true Swiss fashion, beautifully engineered and very expensive (a bit like their watches)

Sarto will be sending me one knock off tool ASAP.

Best I can tell at the moment is that they'll be approx ?63 each, plus any import duty, plus repacking and postage on to each of you.

Will know more once the 'sample' has arrived.

Regards,
Stuart.

Stuart,

I would be interested depending on price.

As far as I am aware at worst case the costs should be part cost + shipping + duty of 10% on that + VAT on all of that. Which by my bad adding up is about ?70, quite a lot but not too bad.

The trouble is the C&E are variable on what they check and charge. Could be 4% duty, could be none.

Cheers,
Simon

Simon,

I'm looking at it from this point of view:

All things being equal, it should be a once in a lifetime purchase, although with time the leather may need replacing (not particulary expensive, I'm sure).

If it works as I expect it too, then I can think about having my spinners sorted out, in the knowledge that the money spent on them will not be wasted by constant belting on and off.

Regards,
Stuart.

I agree Stuart. As I said I dont think that ?70 ish would be too bad.

I was trying to work it out but got interrupted so ended up posted after you, sorry. I have had the odd thing in from the US and the C&E cant seem to make up their mind what to charge. The issue with the C&E is that you think you have the price all worked out then they use a different duty rate for some reason, the shipper puts a handling charge on and then the VAT comes in.

As a once in a lifetime buy they seem good, even at the normal price of about $130 plus all the above duties.

I am a bit worried about..."Wheel arch damage virtually eliminated". I would prefer to eliminate it completely...

Is it the photo or is the torque wrench slightly angled halfway down?

I don't have wheel arch damage with my hammer at least :-)

BUT, DO CHECK if Sarto's altered the design, as , yes it's lovely, but only on painted steels, it's scratched (grooved) my +2S130 alloys quite badly on the spokes. It gets too close-. That also makes it rip the leather. He sent me replacement leather pads, but it's still the same...

Hi Thor,

Nice to hear from you. I was actually referring to the 'other' design which is on Ebay at the moment but it's important to hear of your experience with Sarto's design.
