Any thoughts on this type of lift? It sits on a pallet jack arrangement so can be moved around the garage. :)

Not sure I would be comfortable working under this:

I have a 2 post Max Jack which is semi portable, bolted to the floor but can be unbolted and rolled around.
Seems inherently much more stable (safe) than the 1 post design.

I also live in earthquake country. Woe is me if under this when shaking might start. Seems a bit of a delicate balance with a 1 post (unsecured to the ground) design unless I am missing something.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they didn't make the base and cradle a bit larger! :(

..the opponent of these could've also shown a peterbilt/mack instead of an elan (real case) which would look VERY different!! i'd love to have one those for my punk! sandy

Chris, For our light cars it looks to be a fairly good solution. The biggest issue will be doing a trans or exhaust removal as the lift arms will get in the way. You can buy a 2 Post lift for that money, the increase it cost is the installation and electric connect.

I looked hard at the max jack and decided that for the same money could get a 2 Post lift that would raise the car above my head. I wasn?t interested in the portable nature of the max jack and didn?t want the pressure hoses all over the place. (In reality the only reason I was considering the max jack was due to a 9 ft ceiling height in my garage).

You can get a four Post lift for less, but once you add in the device that lifts the car off the ramp it gets expensive.

Lots of choices, personal decision.

In my case with a 1 1/2 car garage, space is limited. I would only be able to maneuver the jack in place when the garage door was down. I'll be exploring all possibilities :)

Your right a Chris, every one of these lift purchase considerations comes with a particular need and set of space requirements. I spent 6 months researching every option before I pulled the trigger on my two post lift. Wouldn?t change a thing.

I also spent quite a bit of time looking at lifts. For me the conclusion was a quickjack (https://www.quickjack.com) was best for my situation and requirements.

Not as good as a proper car lift but a lot better (and safer) than jacks and stands.

I have a kwik-lift for my elan. Relatively-speaking inexpensive, and extremely easy to use. My elan stays on it whenever I'm not driving it, so it is ready for working on when I am, and just high enough to make working underneath comfortable on a creeper. I still have to jack it when on the lift to do work that requires the wheels be off the ground, but that is easily done a number of ways.

I bought a Max Jack because of limited ceiling height. Been using it for about 3 years with no problems. Somewhere in the past week or so, I saw an ad for this lift for $1695 with free delivery.

I had never heard of the maxjax until starting this thread. It seems like a semi solution at a reasonable price. It also looks like you get to sit down while you're working
