Pistons are delicate things, and deserve careful handling, and you'd know they are very easy to score and mark if you are not careful.
The project here followed on from the machined piston holding ring we made to locate pistons quickly and easily in the three jaw lathe chuck.
This device is a simple split wooden holding device or clamp, it is made in two parts, and made to accept what ever size pistons that are required to be securely held... measure the Dia of the crown in this instance, not the actual bore Dia.
When the piston is placed in the split clamp, the assembly placed in the bench vice and then tightened, work can commence such as inserting piston pins...or for removing piston pins... which might be the case during a trial, or dry engine build.
There might be other ways of doing this, but just thought we would share the idea with you.
